At
Stony Glen we want riders to know that caring
for a horse
is more than just getting on and riding. We
teach each rider
about safety and caring from the ground to the
saddle.
Grooming and caring for your horse is stressed
in
our program. Part of the beginners program will
be
learning horse care, tack care and grooming.

Level I Riders
|
|
Although we do not
expect you to run
out and buy
an entire riding
habit, boots are
required for all
riders. Beginner
riders are kept in a
private lesson until
they can perform the
three “S’s”, stop,
start
and steer at the
trot. This one on
one attention gives
the rider more
confidence and a
faster learning
curve. We take
beginner students
from ages 5 to 95.
Most beginners ride
1-2 times per week.

Level II Riders
|
|
Level two
riders are
students
riding in a
small group,
they can
tack and
care for the
horses and
ponies
and they are
starting to
learn simple
courses and
/or more
complex flat
work. This
level rider
preferably
rides 1-3
times per
week.
Students
riding at
this
level can
come take
scheduled
practice
rides
and lease
horses and
ponies.

Level III Riders
|
|
Level three
riders have
their own
horses or
they
lease a
horse or
pony. They
are
regularly
riding 3- 5
days a week
and usually
compete
(However
competing is
not
required).
In most
cases they
are taking
two lessons
a week and
they are
jumping
fences from
2'3" and up.
